Cast Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal together in a film and it should be a sucker's bet as to who's going to be funnier and who's going to give the more nuanced performance. Somehow, though, De Niro walks away with most of the laughs in Analyze This, a buddy action-comedy about a mob boss (De Niro, natch) suffering from panic attacks who makes a nebbishy shrink (Crystal, natch) an offer he can't refuse--actually, it's not really an offer, it's a command. The good doctor is forced to help the gangster get in touch with his feelings. Had the brilliant TV series The Sopranos not underscored how thin and watery and shticky director-cowriter Harold Ramis's approach to such potentially rich material actually is, the movie--a hit in theaters and De Niro's biggest film ever--would seem more fresh and kicky. De Niro's definitely a hoot as the ever milder menace, and Crystal actually concentrates on giving a credible performance opposite the acting legend (alas, he doesn't turn his character's fear of his patient into inspired comedy, as Alan Arkin did in Grosse Pointe Blank). The conclusion devolves into the requisite gunplay, and Chazz Palminteri and Lisa Kudrow are criminally wasted as an opposing mob boss and Crystal's fiancée, respectively, but overall, it's breezy fun. --David Kronke

I seriously needed something old school to reset all these reality shows television stations saturates the market. Definitely enjoying my Amazon Prime Movie benefit. Robert DeNiro is one of my top choices for movie selections as I've never seen a movie he has been in to disappoint. Billy Crystal, eh, not so much but will give him credit that he did a better job in this movie to act the role of the character and not put his comedy style into this drowning the interest in the viewers.

As always, DeNiro plays the mafia role and is struggling with the dead of his father and is having a total melt down, which is def not the foundation of individuals of the mafia. After his goons had a car accident with Crystal, they exchanged information and found that Crystal was a psychiatrist. With this the goons after seeing DeNiro have a meltdown decided to act upon having Crystal be his cure all doctor and would invade his private space in such humorist ways.

The movie is a comedy and not the normal bloody thriller you may be use to seeing so I would invite some friends/family (above 18) to enjoy a night of laughter and check this movie out. PS they made a sequel called Analyze That that I'll be adding to my play list; stay tune for my thoughts and commentary from the night of the movies with Eva ;)
