About Pete G & The Magnitones
Veteran UK blues band, led by harmonica ace Pete 'G' Welland. Authentic electric Chicago with Texas, West Coast & Rockin’ styles thrown in.
Pete G & his stellar band, the Magnitones, were first established back in 1998, producing their first album in January 1999 of mostly original blues material. They have long since been appearing at live music events, blues venues etc in the both the UK & in Europe. They bring their own distinctive blend of highly authentic post war electric Chicago blues as well as touching on Texas, West Coast, Swing & Rockin’ styles of the genre. Below are some words of praise they are proud to show off, written comments ALL from current professional American blues musicians of note who have come to know the band: “Listened to those tracks and MAN they sound GREAT !! Nice mix and the WHOLE band is playing that shit RIGHT!! GREAT old school sound !! (Neil Gouvin, drummer with long time blues award winners “Sugar Ray Norcia & the Bluetones" commenting on the Magnitones' recent recordings at Rimshot studios , Kent) “You guys have captured that dynamic just right, seriously , that is one of the BEST versions of that track I’ve heard, GREAT on EVERY level !! “ (Bob Newham, drummer with William Clarke band, Johnny Dyer, Rod Piazza commenting on the Magnitones' “live” recording of “Just Your Fool” by Little Walter). “These are Most Excellent cuts, congratulations !!! “ (Aki Kumar, USA harp player) “Tracks sound Great, especially “Off The Wall”. I thought Chess Studios was long gone but it sounds to me like it’s still going strong right in Kent UK” (Michael “Mudcat” Ward (bass player, Sugar Ray Norcia & the Bluetones, Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters, commenting on Rimshot studio recordings by the Magnitones) “I appreciate it when musicians dig deep in whatever music they play ,I can tell that EVERY member of your band is as SERIOUS as can be to get that elusive traditional sound. I can tell you all LOVE this music, it shows, from me, for whatever it’s worth, that means EVERYTHING “ “Keep doing it” “ Kudos to your harp player” (Bob Newham , commenting on “ live” recording of “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” by the Magnitones, original by Big Walter “Shakey” Horton .
“ SMOKING” “ AWESOME” (Mike Law, bass player with “Kim Wilson All Stars Rhythm & Blues Review, commenting on the Magnitones' studio recordings at Rimshot Kent, and Embassy Studios, Basingstoke Hants)
