Sweet d'Buster was a Dutch pop group that occurred between 1975 and 1981.
The group was founded in 1975 by saxophonist Bertus Borgers. Borgers that year had a tour of the United States made by Golden Earring. After returning to the Netherlands he received a recording contract in response to a demo that he was in 1974 with members of the Earring and The Sisters had made Paay. For his new band he pulled Herman Deinum (bass) and Hans Lafaille (drums), both from Cuby and the Blizzards and Robert Jan Stips (ex.Golden Earring, future Nits, keyboards and vocals) to. Stips already had a successful career as frontman and keyboardist for the Super Sister Golden Earring behind. At this all-star line was added guitarist Paul Smeenk. Also Bogaart percussionist brother was briefly a member of the band, but soon moved on to establish his own band.
In 1976 released the debut album Sweet d'Buster, which is also the name of the band has become. Despite the disappointing record sales, the band quickly grew into a popular live act, thanks to its reputation as a super group. In 1978 the second album Friction, which, unlike the debut, it was well sold. Borgers now built brand awareness with his involvement in the albums and Sphritsz Herman Brood Cha Cha. Bread hit Still Believe is a composition of Borgers and Smeenk in the original version heard on Friction.
After the successful third album Gig, a live album recorded in Zwolle, Arnhem, Tilburg and mixed in Los Angeles, Lafaille left dot and the band. After making Rinze Posthuma (keyboards), Jan Pijnenburg (drums, ex-Lucifer) and Eelco Gelling (guitar, ex-Cuby & The Blizzards) briefly a member of the group. With keyboardist Jon Pistor (formerly Bruno Basta), and drummer Pierre van der Linden (previously active in Brainbox, Focus and Flavian) took the band in the United States, the fourth album Shot Into The Blue on. The mix was so bad that the board later re-released a new mix. Following the disappointing sales of the album and a decreasing number of gigs the band was lifted in 1980. The following appeared on different members in other bands.
Early in 2006 appeared in the series Collections Sony BMG, a compilation CD containing highlights of the Sweet d'Buster repertoire.
