" Hobgoblins is one of those late 80s cheesefests that manage to put you right back into the era in which you saw it. For me that was the early 90s, as a preteen committing it to memory that it was a good movie. Through the eyes of an adult, that is not true- however, that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it. Hobgoblins has been called a no budget rip- off of Gremlins, but I personally see more Critters or Ghoulies influences. With a game cast who's not afraid to roll around on the ground with (admittedly detailed) hand puppets, we have the usual teen kill plot, but instead of a masked maniac, they're menaced by malevolent furballs able to make their fantasies come true. There are some great 80s locations, a fun soundtrack, and plenty of groan-worthy dialogue. The bluray looks very nice considering source material, "
